So I did my first wedding cake ever for a friend of mine. It's all buttercream icing, no fondant (Poinsettias are gumpaste, first time working with that as well, also first time doing a tiered cake period). Of course I had my helper . Couldn't have done it without her. and stepped in and helped out on the (second?) day as well to help me get back on schedule because I fell a bit behind initially. Melody also was quite helpful in helping me get the cake to the car and out of it.
Took me about 4 days to do, getting the icing smooth gave me some trouble...like 2 hours working per tier on the outer icing (Crumb coat didn't take too long)
Determined I need a bigger kitchen before I undertake this sort of thing again, I was so short on space it made it quite difficult.
I am satisfied with the finished product, pictures are taken before I set the topper in. It was one of those bride-dragging-groom toppers.
All in all fairly pleased with my results. Not quite fondant smooth like I wanted the buttercream to be, but not bad for a first try I suppose. Final cost of materials ended up at like $125 or so, more than I thought, but I can't buy stuff commercially yet so it makes sense.
Also...I really, really, really don't like driving with assembled cakes...It was incredibly nerve-wracking.

This was truly an amazing cake, and it tasted so good! You'll have to pester C4 to get a taste. I got to see all the stages of this work of art, so I know how hard you worked and what natural talent you (and ~LunaInvidia) have for baking. I hope you enjoyed making it, 'coz I just might have to get you to make mine someday!
